Improving the TEXTURE of skin by addressing:
Wrinkles, folds, and laxity or sagging skin are caused by a number of factors including sun damage, smoking, and simple collagen depletion from aging. Acne scarring and other depressed scarring from trauma to the skin is also caused by depleted collagen in the dermis. The goal in restructuring these textural irregularities is to increase dermal volume underneath the wrinkle, scar or depression. This can be achieved by using lasers and light-devices which can tighten the skin and stimulate new collagen production OR injectables and fillers, which immediately place temporary or semi-permanent volume underneath the wrinkle or fold.
Laserderm offers numerous rejuvenation options because no two faces are identical. Based on the problem and severity of issues Dr. Laughlin will identify which technology or products will best suit the patient’s needs. This CUSTOM REJUVENATION approach is what sets Laserderm apart from other facilities- the more treatment options to choose from means having the resources necesary to build a treatment program individually-tailored for each patient. Treatment modalities may be “layered” on in particular sequence or concurrently in accordance with Dr. Laughlin’s philosophy of “matching the right technology for the pathology”.
Lasers and light-devices are used to tighten existing tissue as well as stimulate long-term collagen production in the skin. This is an ablative laser surgery procedure, which involves some “downtime”. Other patients with mild to moderate wrinkling and aged skin can opt to have a series of non-ablative laser procedures which have little to no “downtime”- these patients can return back to work right after the procedure.

Prescription retinoids such as Retin-A are effective creams and gels which offer a broad range of therapeutic outcomes. In addition to treating and preventing acne and clogged pores, retinoids are also a proven anti-aging cream. These prescription creams help reverse sun damage pigmentation in the skin and stimulate healthy cell turnover and new collagen production. This results in more even skin tone and smoother skin texture over the long-term. They can also help to prevent certain skin cancers from developing. Remember to also wear a daily broad spectrum sunscreen. Ask about incorporating effective skin care into your rejuvenation program on your next visit to Laserderm. For sensitive skin types, alternating nights of a prescription retinoic acid and a soothing anti-aging product (Like Cyberderm's PM Anti-Age!) is a great approach to reversing sun-damage and slowing down the aging process.
